Disappearing Act

Glendora, CA - After scoring 15 runs in it's last two games, the Citrus College Baseball team's offense did a disappearing act on Saturday afternoon, when the Owls hosted Mt. San Jacinto College. Citrus just five total hits, which was far from enough to keep with an Eagle's offense that churned out 15 hits and nine runs in a 0-9 loss. 

 The issues started early for Citrus, when Mt. San Jacinto dropped two runs on the Owls in the top of the first inning. The Owls would put on a pair of runners in the bottom half of the inning, one on a single by sophomore Marcos Campos, but a base running gaffe by Citrus snuffed out any potential thoughts of tying the game. 

That was largely the last offense Citrus would see. The Owls put one runner on second base in the bottom of the sixth after freshman Donovyn Curiel opened the inning with a single to center field. Freshman Jesse Villalobos would lay down a sacrifice bunt to move Curiel to second, while the next two batters went out with merely a whimper to end any threat. 

In the loss, Curiel accounted for two of Citrus' five hits, while freshman Kristian Scott had one of the others and was the lone Owl to draw a walk on the day. With the loss, Citrus drops to 2-4-1 overall. The Owls will be back at home on Tuesday when they take on Pre-Season SoCal #20 Oxnard College at 2:00 PM. ​
