Five + Five = Loss

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team committed five errors and stranded five base runners in a 7-2 loss on Thursday. The Owls did muster much offense on the whole, getting just five hits and drawing just a single walks as they handed San Bernardino Valley College their first victory of the year.

Credit where credit is due, San Bernardino sophomore lefty Tyler Penix was impressive on the bump. He gave up just four total hits to the Owls and allowed just one other base runner via a walk. The Owls did very little with any of those chances scoring a single run in the bottom of the sixth when freshman Donovyn Curiel scored from third thanks to an error by the Wolverine second baseman. Curiel would score once more before the game was done, on a double steal in the bottom of the eighth.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 2-6-1 on the year. The Owls, whose game against Ventura has been postponed due to the incoming storm this weekend, will be back at home on Wednesday when they host West Los Angeles College at 2:00 PM.
