Glendora, CA - After suffering another extra inning set back on Tuesday, the Citrus College Baseball team got themselves back on track on Thursday afternoon with a 9-4 win at home. The win was the Owls' fourth in their last five games.

Citrus got it going early and did so thanks to a huge early gaffe by the Raiders. With the bases loaded and two outs, the Moorpark left fielder dropped a routine fly ball allowing three runners to score and put the Owls up by a trio of runs. Freshman Andre Flores would add to that lead in the bottom of the third when he hit a two run bomb to left field to make it 5-0.

Moorpark would try to push momentum back on their side with a four run fourth, but Citrus would keep the Raiders at bay the rest of the way picking up some insurance scores for good effort. Freshman Benjamin Aguilera would contribute to the cause hitting his third big fly of the year, hitting a two run blast to center field. Sophomore Kyosuke Ushimaru would follow that up with a RBI single through the right side of the field to make it 9-4.

In the bottom of the eight, sophomore Marcos Campos would score the last run of the game. After leading off the inning with a double down the left field line, Aguilera would move Campos to third on a 4-3 groundout. A few pitches later, Campos would score on a balk, helping the Owls to their nine total runs.

Campos would finish the day a team best 3 for 5 with two runs scored. Aguilera was 2 for 4 with three runs and a pair of RBIs, while Flores matched that total going 2 for 4 with three runs and two RBIs. On the hill, sophomore Brennan Piceno would earn the win going five innings. Freshman Matthew Rubalcava-Sanchez was solid in his three innings of work giving up three hits, two walks, and no runs, while fanning three batters.

With the win, Citrus improves to 6-7-1 on the year. The Owls will be back at it on Friday when they travel to Moorpark College for a 2:00 PM contest.
