Glendora, CA – For the second straight week, the Citrus College Baseball team failed to finish a sweep of a WSC East foe, when they lost the series finale to Victor Valley College. The Owls managed eight hits, but stranded 10 base runners in a 5-3 loss to the visiting Rams.

Victor Valley got some early runs against the Owls, scoring three runs in the top of the second and two more in the top of the fifth to take a 5-0 lead. The Owls would get an RBI single from freshman Donovyn Curiel in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to four runs, but the only two other runs they would get the rest of the way would come via an RBI single to center field by sophomore Marcos Campos in the bottom of the seventh and a score on an error by Campos in the same inning.

Curiel and Campos accounted for four of the Owls eight hits on the afternoon. Sophomore Roberto Baldanebro went four innings, giving up six hits, two runs, and two walks against five strikeouts.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 16-13-2 overall and 8-5-2 in WSC East play. Citrus will take a break from conference action this coming weekend, and will open up the week at Mt. San Antonio College at 6:00 PM on Tuesday.
