Gomez Stays Unbeaten, Chavez Hit Streak at 20, Fukuda Hits Grand Slam

Citrus Baseball is firing on all cylinders. The Owls extended their win streak to 4 games as they travelled to Santa Clarita Wednesday and handed Canyons a decisive blow, 17-9. The win keeps the Owls unbeaten in WSC East conference play, and knocks Canyons down into 2nd. 

Citrus ace Sir Jordan Gomez recorded his 6th straight win of the season, maintaining his unbeaten record and propelling the Owls to its 7th road win of 2018. Gomez faced 7 batters in 7 innings pitched. 

On the offensive side for Citrus, leading slugger Thomas Chavez continued his impressive hitting streak as he haas notched a hit in each of the Owls' 20 games this season. Chavez's 39 hits ties him for the best in the state, and pending confirmation, his 20 game streak is possibly the best in the state as well. 

Catcher Teppei Fukuda recorded his 3rd hone run of the season, a grand slam in the top of the 5th. Donvyn Curiel also notched a homer in the win, as well as 2 doubles, taking his season total to 10. Alexis Paz went 3 for 5 with 2 runs and Kristian Scott went 2 for 4 with a double, 2 runs and 2 RBI's (1 on a sac fly). 

Citrus improves to 13-7, 3-0 on the year and sits tied for first in the WSC East with Glendale. The Owls take the field again today at 2:30 at home, weather permitting. Visiting conference foe Barstow is 11-10 overall and 1-2 in conference.
