Despite a 4 run lead going into the 7th inning, Citrus Baseball opened the door for visiting conference opponent Barstow College yesterday and the Vikings promptly kicked the door in. Citrus dropped the contest 5-6, falling to 2nd place with a 3-1 record in conference play.

The Fighting Owls will have an immediate chance at redemption as it faces Glendale on Saturday, who is unbeaten in the WSC East. A win tomorrow would tie the two teams for a share of the lead.

In yesterday's matchup, both teams struggled to ignite offensively, but the Owls would make the first big move as they tied the game 1-1 and then blasted their way trough the 6th inning, knocking in 4 runs and taking a 5-1 lead into the 7th. But that's when the rowdy and spirited Barstow team would make its first strike. The Vikings pieced together a rally that would go through the 8th inning and the Owls couldn't generate a spark in the bottom of the ninth to answer.

Jesse Villalobos hit in the DH spot and blasted a 370 foot, 3 run shot to right center. Thomas Chavez extended his season long hitting streak once again with 2 hits and an RBI. Jose Sanchez also recorded a pair of hits and scored a run.

Saturday's home game against Glendale is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM, weather permitting.
