Citrus Baseball came off a two game conference downturn yesterday in a 15-5 routing of visiting conference opponent Antelope Valley. The win keeps the Owls in the 2nd spot in the WSC East with a 4-2 conference record. Citrus also plants Antelope Valley into the 4th spot as the Marauders drop to 2-4 in conference play.
Citrus went to work early on the offensive end and maintained a steady pace, increasing their lead throughout 8 innings of play. Ace pitcher Sir Jordan Gomez picked up his 7th win of the season, striking out 9 batters in 6 innings pitched. Gomez moves to 7-1 on the year.
Slugger Kristian Scott kept up his steady pace at the plate as of late, going 3 for 4 last night, and 6 for 9 in his last two games. Scott is hitting .352 on the year. Donovyn Curiel also put up decent numbers in the last two games, going 4 for 6 and scoring 5 runs. Isaiah Montoya went off with his bat, hitting 3 for 4 including a solo homer shot to left field that ignited the Owl dugout. Montoya notched an impressive 4 runs on the day, and knocked in a pair of runs.
Citrus will face the marauders again Friday on the road, weather permitting, and then turn around for a 2:30 home game on Saturday to complete the series against the Marauders.
