Owls Can't Chase Down Roadrunners

Citrus Baseball hosted Rio Hondo today after a last minute site change, due to the rains on Thursday. The Owls were initially to visit Rio Hondo but the game was switched to Citrus due to field conditions. The Roadrunners topped the Owls 7-3, dropping Citrus to 1-3 on the season.

Citrus had trouble igniting at the plate until the 3rd inning, when they went on a 3 hit, 3 run roll, tying the game at 3. From there, the Owls struggled to get on base and went scoreless for the rest of the game. Teppei Fukuda went 2 for 4 with an RBI single in the 3rd. Alejandro Loera charted a pair of RBI's when he reached on a mishandled infield grounder. Michael Devis hit a double although he went one too many and was thrown out at 3rd on the play.

The Owls did get themselves out of a lot of jams on defense. The pitching staff stranded an impressive 16 runners on base, twice with bases loaded. Juan De La Torre gets the loss after 3.2 innings pitched, but fanned 6 batters and stranded 6 more in some tough scenarios.

The Owls turn right around and hit the road to Mt. San Jacinto Saturday. First pitch is at 1:00 PM, if the weather holds out.
