Baseball Ends Downturn, Avenges Loss to ELAC

The Fighting Owls Baseball squad turned things around for themselves Friday in a big home victory against visiting East Los Angeles. Citrus ended its losing streak and avenged an earlier loss to the Huskies, taking the game 7-3. 

Citrus scored 6 of its 7 runs in the 2nd inning in a huge rally that featured 6 runs, 5 hits and 5 RBI's. The Owls hit .371 as a team, made 0 errors in the field, and the pitching staff combined for a season high 11 strikeouts. Chase Pedersen had the start and pitched 4 solid innings, fanning 5 batters. Enrique Zaldivar, who picked up the win, struck out 2 and allowed 0 runs. Juan De La Torre finished it out, pitching 2 innings, striking out 4 and allowing just 1 hit. 

Michael Devis led the way offensively, hitting 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's and a run. Devis also snagged a stolen base. Thomas Chavez went 2 for 5, driving in 2 runs and scoring 1 himself. Chavez also stole a base in the effort. Grant Woodward notched a base hit that drove in a run, and scored a run.
