Diamond Owls Send Canyons Home Empty Handed

Citrus Baseball played host to College of the Canyons Saturday for a Western State Conference matchup. The Owls beat the Cougars by a score of 8-1, staying unbeaten in conference and winning 4 of their last 5 games.  

Citrus didn't waste any time getting things started on the offensive end, posting 2 runs in the 1st inning and then 3 more in the 2nd. The Citrus defense backed up the offense efficiently, making zero errors on the day, and posting 16 putouts. 

The Owl batters recorded solid numbers on the day. Ethan Cummins led the way, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's and runs. One of his base hits was a double in the 2nd that accounted for both of his runs batted in. Kanta Kobayashi went 2 for 4, driving in 3 runs and crossing the plate once on his 6th inning solo home run. Go Hattorri was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Thomas Chavez went 1 for 3, scoring 3 runs. Teppei Fukuda notched a single and 2 RBI's and Alejandro Loera had a base hit and a run, as well as a stolen bag. 

Pitcher Aaron Oddo posted his first win of the season after 6 innings pitched. Oddo pitched to 27 batters, fanning 6. Juan De La Torre finished off the pitching duties for the Owls, pitching to 5 batters and striking out 3. 

The Owls improve to 6-10-1 on the year, and are currently 2-0 in conference. 

Citrus takes the field next on Tuesday when they travel to Barstow for a 2:30 PM start.
