Two Game Conference Skid For Baseball

Citrus Baseball played a pair of Western State Conference games over the last 2 days. The Owls dropped both games, first to Glendale on Thursday and then Antelope Valley Saturday. 

In Thursday's game, Glendale topped Citrus 5-1. Thomas Chavez had a great day at the plate, going 3 for 5 with an RBI and a stolen base. Teppei Fukuda went 2 for 4 with a double and Jose Felix recorded a run as a pinch runner for Grant Woodward in the bottom of the 9th inning.

Samuel Gomez pitched 4.2 scoreless innings for the Owls, facing 18 batters and striking out 9. 

On Saturday, Citrus played Antelope Valley tight throughout the game, but trailed until the 9th inning when a late rally was cut short and the Marauders held the Owls off for the win. Teppei Fukuda and Ethan Cummins both recorded doubles, with Fukuda's driving in a run. Thomas Chavez got the other RBI in the 9th inning surge off of a base hit to right field. 

Juan De La Torre pitched 8 great innings for the Owls, facing 33 batters and posting 8 strikeouts.

The pair of losses drop the Owls to 7-12-1 overall with a 3-2 conference record.

Citrus takes the field next on Tuesday at home against Victor Valley. First pitch is at 2:30 PM.
