WSC East Throwdown For Top Spot Goes to Vaqueros

Citrus Baseball hit the 210 freeway to Glendale for a Western States Conference East battle yesterday. The Owls dropped the game 7-9 after a tough fought effort.

The game marked the start of a 3-game stretch this week between the top 2 teams in the WSC East that will close out the 4-game season series between the rivals. Citrus has a chance to split the series with wins tomorrow at home and Friday on the road.

Several Owls posted solid numbers from the plate Tuesday. Thomas Chavez returned to action and unloaded on a pitch for a grand slam that increased his season RBI total by 4. Owl offensive leader Kanta Kobayashi went 3 for 4 on the day, getting on base 4 times, but was left stranded each time. Teppei Fukuda posted a base hit, an RBI and a run; Thomas Aceituno went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI; and Go Hattori notched his 5th double of the year.

Citrus falls to 13-16-1 overall in 2019, and 9-6 in conference.

Tomorrow's home game against Glendale is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
