Citrus Baseball picked up a Western State Conference East victory over Antelope Valley on Tuesday. The 10-3 road game win for the Owls marked their 11th conference win of 2019, and is the first of a 3 game series between the conference foes this week.

The Marauders were able to hold the Owls at bay for the first 4 innings, posting runs in the 2nd and 4th innings. But Citrus lit up in the 5th, crossing home plate 5 times in a beastly rally that put the Owls in the lead 5-2. The Owls would post even more runs in the 6th and 7th, increasing the lead to 10-2 before AVC scored their 3rd and final run of the game in the bottom of the 7th.

Citrus got outstanding production at the plate from several players. Gerardo Zurita had a banner day in the batters box, going 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 singles, an RBI, 3 runs and a stolen base. Kanta Kobayashi, Teppei Fukuda and Go Hattori all recorded doubles and at least 1 RBI. Thomas Chavez had a pair of base hits, 3 RBI's and a run. And Thomas Aceituno went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI's.

Samuel Gomez posted the win for the Owls, improving to 3-2 on the season. Gomez struck out 4 batters on 10 faced, and Enrique Zaldivar closed out the game, striking out 5 batters on 12 faced.
