Glendora, CA - Citrus College Football players Sal Velasquez and Dominique Walker are the latest Owls to sign scholarship offers for Head Coach Ron Ponciano's squad. Velasquez has signed on with Eastern Michigan University while Walker, has signed an offer and is already attending Saginaw Valley State University.

Velasquez was a two-year starter at linebacker for the Owls, totaling 84 career tackles across two seasons with Citrus. Velasquez notched 2.5 sacks, 6 tackles for a loss, a pair of fumble recoveries, forced a fumble, and had three picks in his two years.

"Eastern Michigan gave me the best chance to play the highest level of college football. I fell in love with the school and it felt like the right fit for me based on the type of player I am," Velasquez said. "Citrus has given me the opportunity to continue to work on the game of football, get stronger, mature, and become a better student."

Walker made his debut on the gridiron as a starter in the secondary this past season after playing two years of basketball for the Owls between 2013-2015, and was a 1st team All-WSC South selection as a sophomore. On the football field in the Fall of 2015, Walker recorded 48 total tackles, including one for a loss, to go along with six pass break-ups.

"I chose Saginaw because they really needed a corner to come in and play right away. When the coach flew out to visit me, I felt like he was a trustworthy guy, and I believed everything he was telling me. Coach Ponce was a good friend of the coach recruiting me, and he said I'll love it there," Walker said. "Citrus played a vital role because it got me on track academically. I also met some great people that always looked out for me while I was at the school"

"Sal and Dom are a pair of hard working student-athletes, who will no doubt continue to have success on and off the field at their next schools," Ponciano said. "We look forward to following their continued success, and our proud of what they have accomplished thus far."
