Citrus Football Lands 14 Players on All Conference Teams

Citrus College Football has landed fourteen of it's players on the Southern California Football Association, American Pacific All-Conference Teams.

Heading the list of awardees are five 1st Team selections. The Fighting Owls also celebrate nine 2nd Team selections to round out the list of recognized student athletes.

1st Team All Conference - American Pacific League:

Jeremiah Vasquez, Safety

Vasquez finishes his Citrus career with 138 total tackles for an average of 6.9 per game. Vasquez led all players in the Pacific League in interceptions this season with 4. He picked off 6 interceptions in his career, adding 123 return yards.

Kyle Morales, Offensive Tackle

Morales, a Freshman, started every game for the Owls in 2017. His presence on the O-line was key to the improvements on offense throughout the season, and was crucial to the Owls being ranked 1st in passing touchdowns.

Scean Mustin-Sherman, Defensive Tackle

Freshman Mustin-Sherman landed 21 total tackles on the season, and sacked the quarterback 3.5 times for 22 lost yards. Mustin-Sherman started in 9 of 10 games for the Owls.

Diego Morales, Kicker

Morales led the Southern California Football Association  in PAT percentage with a perfect 13 for 13 mark. He also was 2nd in field goal percentage with 78%. Morales had key field goals in Owl wins throughout the season.

Angel Esparza, Punter

Esparza was a steady presence for the Owls on 4th downs in 2017. He booted a SCFA leading 17 fair catches, and was 2nd in punts inside the 20 yard line. Esparza averaged 33.2 yards per punt.

Note:

Darreon LockettQuarterback

Although a 2nd team selection, Lockett started the season listed as an Athlete for the Owls, and converted late in the season to the starting quarterback position, where he helped turn the season around for the Citrus offense. Although Lockett only appeared in the last 5 games of the season at the quarterback position, he quickly moved up the conference rankings. It's estimated that if Lockett had played the entire season at QB, he would have led in almost every statistical category.

2nd Team All Conference - American Pacific League:

Darreon Lockett, Quarterback

Jacob Bystry, Kick Returner, Receiver

Savian Brown, Center

Mason Mesina-Rowe, Wide Receiver

Sean Whitham, Tight End

Zach Lewallen, Linebacker

Eshon Gray, Outside Linebacker

Henry Karimu, Defensive End

Grant Trueman, Defensive End
