Bio

Bob Moran became the Owls' Offensive Coordinator in 2018, bringing more than 35 years of combined pro, college, and high school experience.

Under Moran’s direction in 2018, the Owls' Offense lead the Mountain Division in Rushing Offense averaging 243 yards per game. Most recently Moran was Offensive Coordinator and quarterback’s coach at Pasadena City College in 2017. Under Moran, the Lancers finished second in the conference in both Passing Offense and Red Zone efficiency. Wide receiver, Stevie Williams was named to the All-State team. In 2016 Moran was the head coach at Cabrillo High School in Long Beach. Prior to Cabrillo, Moran was the offensive coordinator at Fullerton College. During Moran's decade of tenure at Fullerton College, Fullerton's offenses ranked in the top echelons of the state in total offense, passing efficiency, scoring offense, and turnover margin. As a function of Moran's tutelage in the West Coast Offense, eight Hornet quarterbacks and 12 receivers have advanced to the Division I level.

Under Moran’s tutelage in 2013, Fullerton College quarterback Jose Escobar garnered Southern Conference MVP Honors on offense en route to recognition as a 1st team All-American. During 2013, Escobar broke FC records for single-season passing yards and pass completion percentage. Previously Moran's Fullerton offense has showcased back-to-back Conference MVPs, in All-American tailback Kenny Turner (2009), and quarterback Jeff Fleming (2008).

In 2013, Moran's offense advanced to the State Championship game all the while breaking Fullerton College's long-standing records for yards rushing, total offense, and points scored.

In 2002, Moran was a quarterbacks and receivers coach for Toronto Argonauts during his third stint in the Canadian Football league. He began coaching at the pro level in 1991 and 1992 in the World League which was the precursor to NFL Europe. Sacramento won the 92 World Bowl behind quarterback David Archer and NFL veteran coaches Kay Stephenson and Jim Haslett. In 1994, he was the receiver coach for the CFL's Las Vegas Posse under one-time NFL head coach Ron Meyer.

The Posse quarterback that season was Anthony Calvillo who remains an active CFL player and one of pro football's all-time career passers.

Moran previously coached at the college level from 1996-1998 as the Offensive Coordinator at Minnesota State Moorhead. Locally in 1993 and 1995, he coached quarterbacks at Occidental College. In 1992 he was the quarterback coach for Cal State Fullerton under the late Hornets head coach, Gene Murphy. From 1989-90 he was a graduate assistant at USC under Larry Smith. From 1985-88 he was Offensive Coordinator at Sul Ross State University in Alpine TX. From 1983-1984 Moran was the tight end and wide receiver coach at the University of West Alabama.

Moran began his collegiate coaching career back in 1978-79 at East Los Angeles College before doing the same job at San Francisco State in 1980-81. In 2003-2004 Moran was the quarterback coach at Pasadena City College. In 2005 Moran was Offensive Coordinator at Compton College while the Tartars enjoyed their first winning campaign in recent history.

A coach of several All-Americans in college, Moran earned a bachelor's degree at USC and received his master's at Sul Ross State.

Moran and his wife Oly enjoy a wonderful family life with their daughter Natasha Langhans, and two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Nicollete.
