Owls Fall Again to Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA -- For the second time this season, the Citrus College Men's Basketball team went head to head with Bakersfield College and came up empty. The Owls led by six points at the break, but watched as the Renegades outscored the Owls 44-32 in the second half on the back of 10 more attempts at the free-throw line than Citrus, settling in for a 74-68 win over the Owls.

The Owls' troubles weren't just due to their lack of free-throw attempts. Citrus shot just 34.4% from the floor and 30.4% from three. That was compared to a 42.3% shooting effort from the floor by Bakersfield, who else took 17 fewer three point attempts than the Owls.

In the loss, Citrus was led by sophomore John Roach's game high 19 points. Sophomore Dominique Walker added 15, while sophomore Jordan Jefferson had 13.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 14-8 overall and 7-3 in WSC South play. The Owls have a tall task on their hands this Wednesday when they host WSC South leader Antelope Valley College at 5:00 PM.
