Owls Gut Out Win at Glendale

Glendale, CA - Fresh off their first WSC East victory, the Owls faced a tough test on Saturday night when they too on a talented Glendale College. Citrus took the Vaqueros best shot, but in the end the Owls gutted out a win over Glendale 77-74.

Citrus largely controlled the first half, leading by as much as 17 points after a late triple by freshman Andrew Ammann. The Vaqueros would close out the first half on a 9-2 run setting the tone for a second half, that would see them battle back from a 10 point deficit and turn it into the lead.

In the second half, Citrus did their best to keep Glendale at bay, leading all the way through the first 12 minutes. Facing a deficit for the first time since the 17:13 mark in the first half, the Owls didn't panic. Citrus got enough stops and were able to turn what ended up being at it's worst a five point deficit, back in their favor after back-to-back buckets from Ammann, including a three. Glendale would have a few chances to tie the game back up in the waning seconds, including a three at the buzzer, but all came up just shy in the Citrus victory.

Freshman Jeremy Smith would lead all scorers with 23 points. Ammann added 16, while sophomore Kenneth Cyprian had 13. The road doesn't get any easier for Citrus who will travel to Antelope Valley College on Wednesday. Tip is set for 5:00 PM. ?
