Citrus Grabs Thrilling Overtime Victory

Facing its third ranked opponent in four games, No. 16-ranked Citrus College had to dig deep to force overtime before picking up a thrilling 101-99 victory over No. 11-ranked East LA College.
The Owls improve to 8-4 on the year while the Huskies slip to 8-4.
Six Owls finished the night in double figures, led by Cedric Reed with 26 points (8-for-16). Leonard Turner chipped in 19 points (8-for-14), while Anthony Tello added 13 points on 4-for-9 shooting. Dylon Davis (4-for-9) and Chris Chiles (4-for-7) each scored 11 points and Jayden Johnston finished with 10 points.
Citrus scored 27 points off turnovers and 21 second-chance points in the victory, despite being outshot 63.8-percent to 45.3-percent from the floor.
Tied at 89-89 with less than five seconds remaining in the second, ELAC had the chance to win the game, but Chiles came up big with a block on the attempted three-pointer to send the game into overtime.
In the extra period, the teams went back-and-forth before locking up at 99-99 with less than 90 seconds remaining.
Davis came up big with 30 seconds on the clock, forcing a ball loose that resulted in a jump ball with the arrow pointing to in favor of the Owls. Citrus' first shot didn't fall, but Turner grabbed the rebound and drove to the basket to put his team in front 101-99 with less than four seconds remaining.
The Huskies called two timeouts to try to draw something up and got a Hail Mary shot off just inside half court, but it rattled off the rim to give the Owls the victory.
Citrus heads to LA Pierce on Saturday, tipping off at 3:00 p.m.
