Glendora, CA (Men's Basketball) -- Citrus College sophomore men's golfer Shane Favinger has accepted a scholarship offer from Holy Names University in Oakland, California. Favinger was the Owls' lone qualifier for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Golf Championships the last two seasons.

"[Holy Names] has a good coach and a good program. You can't really beat the school. It's a private school in a smaller setting, and I liked that," Favinger said. "Citrus has helped me refine my skills. It allowed me to play at a strong level of competition, and prepared me for the next level. My experience here has been really good. It's helped me grow up with school, and it's taught me how to balance school and golf."

Over the past two seasons, Favinger has been Citrus' top golfer. As a freshman, Favinger finished seven over par at the 2011 WSC Championships before finishing 23rd in the 2011 SoCal Championships.

As a sophomore, Favinger finished 9th at the 2012 WSC Championships +8 in two rounds of golf. He then followed that up with a 28th place finish out of 58 golfers at the SoCals. Favinger carded a two round score of +8, finishing just two strokes out of being placed in the CCCAA State Championships.

"Over the last two years, Shane has been a rock for our program," said Citrus College Head Men's Golf Coach Julian "Trip" Horton. "We know Shane will represent Citrus well at the next level, and I am positive he will continue to have success."
