San Dimas, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Golf team hosted their Western State Conference foes on Monday afternoon and blew past the majority of their competition. The Owls placed second out of the seven conference teams, firing a team combined 384 on a blustery day.

Sophomore Jacob Rodriguez led the pack with a one over par 73. It tied Rodriguez with three other golfers for the second lowest round of the day. Sophomore Daniel Olivas came into the clubhouse at San Dimas Canyon Golf Course two strokes back of Rodriguez with a 75, good for 8th place overall.

Finishing behind Olivas was a strong performance from sophomore Brett Smith who carded a 76, and freshmen Ricky Hunter and Homerson So who rounded out the Owls scoring with rounds of 79 and 81 respectively.

Monday's competition was close throughout as the Owls defeated Santa Barbara City College and Glendale College by five strokes each and fifth place Ventura College by six strokes. The day put the Owls back into the thick of the conference season with one regular season conference match to go.

Citrus will be back out on the golf course next Monday when they head up the 210 Freeway to play at Oakmont Country Club for the Western State Conference Glendale College hosted event. Tee-time is set for 11:00 AM.
