Fourth at the First

Valencia, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Golf team kicked off their 2014 Western State Conference Men's Golf schedule on Monday when they participated in the WSC Event hosted by College of the Canyons. Out of the eight competing teams, the Owls took fourth at the first even of the year.

Sophomores Matt Nolan and Homerson So led the way for Citrus as they both fired rounds of 79. The rounds of 79 also placed the two Owls in the Individual Top 15, in a four way tie for 9th overall. Sophomore Josh Davis came in seven strokes behind those two with an 86, while freshmen Josh Herman, Takakazu Furukawa, and Benjamin Bencomo were the final three competitors on the day. Herman carded a 90, while Furukawa and Bencomo came into the clubhouse with a pair of 92's.

As a team, the Owls shot a 426, just two strokes behind third place Ventura College, and one stroke ahead of fifth place Allan Hancock College. The Owls will be back out on the links next Monday when they participate in the WSC Event hosted by Santa Barbara City College. Tee-time is set for 11:00 AM at Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Solvang.
