Golf Falls to 10th at OEC Classic

Chino Hills, CA - The Citrus College Men's Golf team fell to 10th place on Wednesday afternoon at the 2017 OEC Classic hosted by Cypress College. Against the entirety of the always strong Orange Empire Conference, along with some of the best of the rest SoCal has to offer, the Owls kept pace, but couldn't crack the upper echelon at Los Serranos County Club - North Course.

For the second straight week it was freshman Joshua Strong as the lowman, posting a three over par 75. Sophomore Trevor Perry was next man up, posting a 78, one stroke better then fellow sophomore James Bragger who carded a respectable 79 in spite of one tough hole. From there it was freshman Gabriel Sosa who posted a 83, followed by a round of 85 by freshman Maximiliano Garcia who had the final scoring round of the afternoon for Citrus.

As a team, the Owls shot a combined 400 on the afternoon, just one stroke more than their best effort at the previous week's tournament. The 400 was just two strokes behind the 9th place finisher, and eight strokes back out of 7th place.

The Owls will be back are scheduled to be back out on the tee box this coming Monday when they open up Western State Conference play. Rain is in the forecast however, and the match could be postponed. If the weather holds tee time is set for 10:00 AM at Valencia Country Club for the WSC Canyons Event.
