Owls Finish 11th and 12th at VVC and MSJC Tournaments

Victorville & San Jacinto, CA - The Citrus College Men's Golf program participated in a pair of tournaments this past week, playing in the annual Pneumonia Open, a best-ball tournament, hosted by Victor Valley College, and the annual Mt. San Jacinto College Eagle Golf Classic, hosted by Mt. San Jacinto. The finished in 11th and 12th places respectively.

At Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville, the Owls were led by the duo of sophomore Trevor Perry and freshman Maximiliano Garcia. The two combined to shoot a one under 71. Freshmen Johnathan St. Our and Gabriel Sosa followed that up with a 74, while sophomore Justin Orona teamed up with freshman Adam Dinaully for a 76. As a team, the Owls shot a 221, which was three strokes better than 12th place Irvine Valley College, but eight strokes back of 10th place Saddleback College.

A few days later, the Owls were out on the links again, this time at Soboba Springs Country Club. In the normal format, Sosa along with freshman Joshua Strong was the leader in the clubhouse with both posting 77's. St. Ours posted a solid round with a 79, while Perry and Dinaully were the other two scoring rounds with an 81 and 83 respectively. Citrus shot a team score of 397 for the afternoon, pushing them down to 12th place out of the 15 participating teams.

The Owls are scheduled to finally begin conference play on Monday for the WSC Santa Barbara event at Alisal Ranch.
