Owls Take Fifth at Conference Championship

Citrus College had a strong finish at the Western State Conference Championship on Monday, taking fifth as a team.

The Owls posted a 406 in the opening round and turned in a 395 in the second round to finish with an 801 overall, just two strokes off fourth-place Ventura College.

Kabir Chadha led the Owls with a 150 over the two rounds, finishing with a 78 in the first round and shaving six strokes off to grab a 72 in the second round. Daichi Nishisu followed with a 154 (75, 79), while Chris Ruiz turned in a solid second round to finish with a 164 (85, 79). Ashtin Mount posted a 166 with equal 83s in each round and Matthew Ibarra rounded out the scorers with a 169 (87, 82).

Chadha picked up all-conference honors after finishing the year in the top 10 of the WSC leaderboard (76.25, eighth) and Citrus Head Coach Trip Horton was named the WSC Coach of the Year. Chadha and Nishisu will represent the Owls at the SoCal Championship on Monday, May 8.
