Everything's Coming Up Rosales

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Men's Soccer team put together arguably it's best performance of the 2016 season on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted El Camino College-Compton Center. Much of that was thanks to the play of freshman Joel Rosales who had a hat trick and an assist in the Owls' 4-2 win over the Tartars.

Rosales' first goal came in the 12th minute when he took a pass from freshman Erik Cotrina and put it in the back of the net. Rosales struck again in the 29th minute, this time with sophomore Omar Mendoza notching the assist. Just over three minutes later, sophomore Emilio Del Villar got a pass from Rosales and buried it to put Citrus up 3-0 break.

In the second half, the Owls moved from a more attacking mindset to a defensive system while still looking to counter at the right moment. Compton would try to get back into the game with a strike in the 71st minute, but the Owls put the game away for good when they drew a penalty kick in the 80th minute. Rosales stepped to the ball and notched his third goal of the game to make it 4-1. In the win, freshman keeper Jose Quinones Guerrero was solid stopping six of the seven shots he faced.

With the win, Citrus improves to 3-2-1 on the year. The Owls will be back in action this Friday when they travel to Moorpark College for a 4:00 PM showdown with the Raiders.
