Comeback Trifecta

Santa Maria, CA - After the long and arduous journey 177 mile journey to Allan Hancock College, the Citrus College Men's Soccer team found themselves down 2-0 at the half. The Owls completed the comeback trifecta in the second half though, including a game winner in stoppage time to leave Allan Hancock with a 3-2 victory.

The Owls came out sluggish on the afternoon, allowing the Bulldogs to outshoot them 10-3 in the first half. The significant offensive disadvantage led to a 2-0 hole for Citrus after goals by Hancock in the 8th and 17th minute respectively.

Things began to turnaround for the Owls quickly in the second half, when freshman Ramon Gutierrez Jr. put the Owls on the board with a score in the 48th minute. It would take a little while for the Owls to tie the game up, but when they did, they did so in dramatic fashion when freshman Matteo Vann scored his first of the year in the 70th minute. Sophomore Emiliio Del Villar would send the Owls home happy 20 minutes later with his sore in the 90th minute to push the Owls one game back above .500 yet again.

With the win, Citrus improves to 4-3-1 overall. The Owls will be on the road again on Friday when they travel to Cypress College for a 3:00 PM showdown with the Chargers.
