Lancaster, CA - The Citrus College Men's Soccer team overcame a 1-0 first half deficit on Friday afternoon, rallying to get two goals in the second half of action, defeating host Antelope Valley College 2-1, and stopping a three game skid in the process.

In a game, that didn't feature much offense, the Owls needed a little luck in the process. Freshman keeper Gabriel Perez-Negron faced four total shots on the day, stopping three of them, but giving up one goal, the one that gave the Marauders the lead in the first half.

Citrus kept plugging away though, and that fight helped earn the Owls a penalty kick midway through the second half. Needing to tie the game up, the Owls did just that when freshman Ramon Gutierrez Jr. stepped up to the ball and planted it in the back of the net. Still Citrus wasn't content to settle for the tie and they kept pressuring the Antelope defense.

Despite not getting many shots on frame, they were able to get the ball deep into the box in the 85th minute where an AVC defender failed to clear the ball and instead pushed it past his own keeper to give Citrus a 2-1 lead. The Owls would hold on for the final five minutes of regulation plus stoppage time to get their 7th win of the year.

With the win, Citrus improves to 7-6-2 overall and 2-3-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back on Tuesday when they travel to Bakersfield College for their first ever trip to Memorial Stadium. First touch is set for 7:00 PM.
