Men’s Water Polo Gets Six on All-Conference Team

Glendora, CA -- With the 2012 season in the rearview mirror, the Western State Conference All-Conference team was recently announced. The Owls had six players listed in the post-season awards, one on the first team, two on the second team, and three on the honorable mention list.

Leading the way was sophomore Raul Castaneda who was Citrus' only representative on the 1st team. Castaneda led Citrus in most statistical categories during the 2012 campaign, scoring a team high 83 goals, drawing a team high 84 kickouts, and tallying up 24 steals, the second best mark on the team.

Following Castaneda on the 2nd team list were freshmen Austin Sanchez and Andy Perez. Sanchez had an impressive freshman year, finishing second on the team with 36 goals, drawing 16 kickouts, and recording 13 steals. Perez meanwhile played most of the season in the cage for Citrus before moving into the field at the end of the year. Perez recorded a team high 209 blocks, and scored 10 goals, added four assists, and notched nine steals.

On the Honorable Mention list were freshmen Jonathon Aguirre, Grant Quan, and Christian Deamer. Aguirre was third on the team with 23 goals and led the Owls with 29 steals. Quan was a late addition for the Owls, but recorded 12 goals and nine assists in just 15 games in the water. Deamer meanwhile was a consistent cog in Citrus' system this year with 12 goals, 12 assists, and 19 steals.

2012 All-Western State Conference List
