Lotero Leads Post-Season Awards With All-American Nod

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College freshman Jonathan Lotero capped off a fantastic freshman campaign recently by being named an All-American. Lotero is the 39th All-American in program history, and the first since 2002.

Owls Ousted by Orange Coast

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team made their first appearance in the CCCAA Southern California Regionals for the first time in over a decade on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Owls they were ousted by #5 Orange Coast College 16-14.

For the first time in 12 years, the Citrus College Men's Water Polo program will once again be in the post-season when they host the rest of the best of Southern California as the #4 seed.
Owls Back in Post-Season For First Time Since 2002

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo program has returned to the post-season for the first time since 2002. The Owls earned the #4 seed in the upcoming Southern California Regionals which will be hosted at Citrus College.

Owls Finish Second at WSC Championships

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo program had their best regular season finish since 2000 when their 2014 regular season schedule came to a close this weekend at the 2014 Western State Conference Championships. While the Owls were hoping to claim their first conference title since 1996, the Owls instead finished second and will await their seed for the upcoming Southern California Championships.

Owls Fall in Regular Season Finale to LA Valley

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team fell in their regular season finale to visiting LA Valley College. It was Citrus’ first loss in Western State Conference play, as the Monarchs prevailed in a tight one 16-15.

Owls Move to 3-0 In Conference With Rout of Ventura

Ventura, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team improved to a perfect 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon with a 23-5 rout at Ventura College. The win puts the Owls in a showdown with LA Valley College next Wednesday for the #1 seed headed into the Western State Conference Championship Tournament.

Freshman Drake Santos had 37 blocks in two games as Citrus defeated both Grossmont and Fullerton on Friday.
Making a Statement

Fullerton, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team went on the road on Saturday afternoon and made a statement. The Owls staked their claim as one of the top teams in Southern California with a 15-13 win over Pacific Coast Conference leading Grossmont College and an 11-7 win over the day’s host Fullerton College, taking the rubber match between the two schools.

Never In Doubt

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team bounced back from their first ever losing streak over the weekend with a 21-5 victory over visiting Santa Monica College in Western State Conference action. The game was never in doubt for the Owls, who jumped out to a 10-0 lead after one quarter.

Freshman Jonathan Lotero scored 11 goals on the weekend for the Owls at the Riverside Invitational.
A Tough Stretch

Riverside, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team experienced arguably their toughest stretch this past weekend at the Riverside Invitational. The Owls faced two of the top four teams in the State, and faced another SoCal contender and were sent home with a 1-3 weekend.

A Big One

San Luis Obispo, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo’s historic 2014 campaign continued on Wednesday afternoon when they picked up one of their biggest wins in recent memory. The Owls hit the road for a crucial opening Western State Conference match-up with perennial conference title contender Cuesta College, and headed back home with their first win in at least 16 tries 12-8.

Freshman William Martinez scored nine goals, handed out nine assists, and swiped nine steals over the weekend at the South of the Border Tournament.

San Diego, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team continued their winning streak this past weekend at the South of the Border Tournament, but fell just shy of winning their third straight tournament. The Owls won their first three games, but suffered their first loss in their previous 13 games to close out the tournament.

Walnut, CA -- One week after going 4-0 and winning their home hosted tournament, the Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team did it again down the street at the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament, going 4-0 and winning the 2014 Mt. SAC Tournament.

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College freshman men’s water polo player Jonathan Lotero was named the Week #1 Western State Conference Male Athlete of the Week. Lotero earned the honors thanks to his play during the Citrus College Men’s Water Polo Tournament.

Freshman goalie Drake Santos had a total of 25 saves between two games, as Citrus won the 2014 Citrus College Men's Water Polo Tournament.
Champs

September 14, 2014

Glendora, CA — It wouldn’t be easy, but the Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team made a statement on Saturday afternoon. The Owls opened up the day with a 20-3 win over San Diego Mesa, before making a big second half comeback against Fullerton College later in the day. The comeback crowned Citrus as the champions of their home hosted tournament as they won 10-8.

Commanding

September 13, 2014

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo program opened up its home hosted 2014 Citrus College Water Polo Tournament in commanding fashion on Friday. The Owls won both of their matches big, defeating San Diego Miramar College 22-5 in the first game, before defeating Mt. San Antonio College 18-8 later in the afternoon.

Freshman Vincent Edwards had two goals, two assists, and three steals, off the bench for the Owls in their win over La Verne.

Glendora, CA — The Citrus College Men’s Water Polo program opened up their 2014 home schedule on Wednesday evening when they played host to NCAA DIII University of La Verne. The Owls caged the visiting Leopards defeating them 14-8.
