Men’s Water Polo Wins Regional Consolation in Sudden Death Overtime 

The Citrus Men's Polo team held on by the skin of its teeth and edged out rival LA Valley in sudden death overtime Saturday, with a final score of 11-10. The win locked the Owls in as the 3rd best team in Southern California and one of the most competitive in the state. 

Citrus ends its season having left a huge mark on the state rankings and helped to concrete Citrus Water Polo as one of the top programs in the state. The Owls were highly ranked as a team, and had some stellar individual rankings as well. Here's just a brief selection of some of the more impressive statewide statistical rankings. As a team, the Owls were #1 in goals, #1 in drawn ejections, #2 in assists, #2 in goals per game, #2 in blocks, #3 in steals, #3 in games played and #4 in saves. 

Individually, Johnathan Wong was the overall state leader with 138 goals, #1 in points, #1 in exclusions drawn, #4 in shots, and #6 in assists. Keith Green was #2 in steals, #4 in points and #5 in blocks. Noah Financier was #8 in assists. Anthony Massro ranked #5 in points. Mark Naranjo was #3 in assists. Goalkeeper Spencer Norconk ended the year as #1 in quarters played, #1 in wins and 4th in saves. 

Along with the impressive statistical performances, Citrus also commanded the respect of the Junior College water polo community with an incredible 15 game winning streak through late September. 

Citrus will graduate 6 Sophomores this year, including some of the state's top players. But Head Coach Kenny Clements will have a strong returning group as well, and as a seasoned recruiter, looks to bring in a competitive Freshman class for 2018.
