Men's Water Polo: Owls Snap Losing Streak

Citrus Men's Water Polo competed in a two day, four match tournament last weekend at San Diego Mesa College. The Owls took on Cerritos, Southwestern, Las Positas and San Diego Mesa in the South of the Border Tournament.

Citrus went 1-3 on the weekend, capturing its first win of 2019 over Las Positas 16-11. In the win over the northern California team, Citrus saw standout play by several individuals. Dominik Powell led all scorers in the match with 7 goals and added 5 steals and 4 drawn ejections, both of which were also game highs. Chantz Gladden netted 3 goals in the effort and Matthew Roebuck, Johnathan Matox and Gaige Chyrchel each put 2 shots in the back of the cage. Goalie Jason Perez picked up the win, stopping 14 shots on 25 shots faced.

Citrus sits at 1-10, but getting one in the win column Saturday could be the spark the guys need to pick off some more wins. The Owls are in the pool again Wednesday in a home match against Ventura. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 PM at the Citrus Aquatics Center.
