
Owls Win Big on Sophomore Day
The Citrus College Men's Water Polo team picked up a big conference win yesterday, Wednesday, October 9th as they defeated Santa Monica College 25-8 on Sophomore Day.
Citrus College improves to 11-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference while Santa Monica College falls to 1-14 on the season and 0-2 in conference.
The Owls went up 5-2 in the first quarter as they applied pressure, forcing turnovers from Santa Monica College and capitalizing by scoring goals. In the second quarter Citrus seemed to play with even more aggression as they scored nine unanswered goals including a three-goal run from Trace Faskell, all scored within one minute.
The Owls added five goals in the third quarter and six goals in the fourth quarter for a final score of 25-8.
On Sophomore Day the Owls' Sophomores shined as Devon Dow scored two goals, Aiden Herald scored one goal and recorded four steals, Tommy Gibson scored five goals and added five assists, Joseph Mikhail scored two goals and added two assists with four steals, while Adam Herald, Killian Pressley, and Milton Gutierrez each scored one goal in the win.
Trace Faskell led the Owls with seven goals and goalie George Mikhail recorded 14 saves on the 22 shots he faced.
Citrus College will take yesterday's momentum with them into the Riverside City College tournament as they compete this Friday and Saturday, October 11th, and 12th.
