Winder Pitches Complete Game Shutout As Owls Blank Raiders

Citrus Softball played Moorpark College this afternoon in a non-conference matchup at the Citrus Softball Complex. The Owls played error free defense en route to a 4-0 shutout of the Raiders.

Becky Winder, who pitched a complete game shutout for the Owls, struck out 6 batters on her way to the win. Winder, who moves to 4-3 on the season, has now pitched 5 complete games on the year. Mia Escobar, the lead off batter and centerfielder for the Owls, did her thing as usual and chipped in a triple for 3 RBI's and a run scored, along with a stolen base. Molly Montell, one of the Citrus sluggers, notched another 2 hits including a double and a run scored.

The Owls, who boast a team .346 batting average, have been red hot since their pair of losses at Santiago Canyon early in February, winning 7 straight and mercy ruling their opponents 3 times along the way. First year Head Coach Terry Paredez and his coaching staff have been hard at work getting the Freshman heavy roster dialed in for collegiate play. Paredez has brought in some of the best talent in the area and is sure to steadily improve his Freshman class as the season matures.

The Owls move to 8-4 on the season and will play next on Thursday as they play host to LA Valley at 2:30.
