Citrus Softball swooped into Victorville Tuesday and flew out of the high desert with a conference win, handily beating the Rams of Victor Valley College in a mercy rule game 14-4.

The Owls came out swinging right off the bat, building an 8-2 lead after just 2 innings and never looking back. The Owls got to develop some depth in the game, as 16 players made appearances in the 5 inning contest.

Becky Winder picked up the win from the mound, striking out 5 batters. Winder also got it done behind the plate with 2 for 3 hitting, a pair of runs and snagged an extra base.

The offensive display by the Owls was most definitely a group effort, as 10 different players recorded hits, 8 players scored at least one run and the team hit for an average of .484.

Leticia Morales went off at the plate, driving in 4 runs on 3 for 4 hitting (all of those hits being doubles)and crossing home plate 2 times; Shania Carlin went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's, 3 runs and a stolen base;  Giavanna Muenz knocked out her first home run of the season, a two run shot in the top of the 2nd; Valerie Ortiz scored 2 runs and knocked in 2, while Emily Peredez hit a pair of doubles and Brooke Fuss hit her 3rd home run of the year.

Citrus improves to 12-8 overall on the season and moves up to .500 in conference at a 3-3 clip. The Owls take the field again Friday at home as they host visiting Cuesta at 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
