Softball rolled into Barstow Tuesday in overdrive as they quickly dispatched the struggling Vikings in 5 innings, 17-5. The mercy rule win is the 7th of the year for the Owls, and puts them over the .500 mark in the WSC East at 4-3.

Citrus wasted no time in asserting itself on the visiting team's field. The Owls come out of the gates swinging, crossing the plate 6 times in the 1st inning alone and expanding the lead steadily throughout the 5 innings played. In what was one of the biggest offensive rallies of the year, Citrus managed to connect with the bat in the 3rd inning in a big way, scoring 8 runs and putting the pressure on the Owl defense to seal the deal on the mercy rule win.

Emily Paredez notched the win from the pitcher's mound on 3.2 innings pitched, striking out 2 batters and improving her season record to 7-2. Paredez also got it done at the plate, tallying 3 hits (including a double), 2 runs and 3 RBI's. Paredez was not alone in her batting efficiency though, as Leticia Morales, Shania Carlin, Brooke Fuss, Molly Montell and Jacquelyn Preciado all had multiple base hits.

The Owls have a tricky week now, as the rains have made a mess of their schedule. As of now, the next scheduled contest (that hasn't been rescheduled already) is Saturday at Cypress for a doubleheader. Start times are 12:00 and 2:00 PM.
