Offensive Barrage Too Much For West LA

Offensive Barrage Too Much For West LA

On the way to a 14-1 mercy rule win at West LA yesterday, the Citrus Fighting Owls recorded their most hits in a single game this season with a whopping 26. Citrus knocked in 6 runs in each of the first 2 innings and wouldn't look back as they cruised through 3 more innings, adding to the lead and holding the Wildcats to just 3 hits and 1 run.

The Owls put in good work from the defensive side as well. Giavanna Muenz got the start from the circle and delivered her 2nd win of the season, moving to 2-0 on the year and fanning 9 batters along the way. Muenz also contributed at the plate, charting 3 hits (2 of them doubles)and scoring 2 runs. Catcher Brooke Fuss wore out her bat, going 4 for 4 with 3 doubles, 2 RBI's and a run scored. Not to be left out of the fun, Jacquelyn Preciado got 3 base hits, crossing the plate twice and clubbing in 3 RBI's. The rest of the Owls squad chipped in an impressive amount of offense, hitting .743 as a team and striking out exactly zero times.

The Owls improve to 6-5 in WSC East conference play and 16-13 overall. Citrus continues its 2nd consecutive busy week on the diamond. The Owls play today in East Los Angeles, tomorrow at home vs LA Mission and finally Friday at El Camino.
