Citrus Softball traveled to LA Valley College on Thursday for a Western State Conference East matchup against the Monarchs. Citrus dropped the close game 5-6.
The Owls hit .310 as a team, with 6 players recording at least one hit, 4 RBI's as a unit and some solid pitching that yielded 4 strikeouts. But the effort wasn't quite enough to edge out the home team.
Individually, Cerina Martinez went 2 for 3 and scored a run. Becky Winder went 1 for 2 with an RBI, 2 runs and 2 stolen bases. Katie Kempton went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Melanie Barba went 1 for 1 with an RBI and a run. Winder also recorded 3 strikeouts from the circle on 16 batters faced.
Citrus falls to 1-5 overall with a 0-1 conference mark.
