Extra Innings Softball Thriller Shocks Division Leader Antelope Valley

In a much anticipated Western Conference East Softball matchup on Tuesday, Citrus hosted undefeated division leader Antelope Valley. The two teams were locked in a dead heat into extra innings, and ended with a Marauder victory after 9 innings.

AVC didn't waste any time on the offensive side, scoring a run on a Briana Garret triple that drove in a run in the top of the 1st inning. But Citrus answered back in the bottom of the frame when Katie Kempton popped a single to right field that scored Emily Paredez. The two teams would be in defensive battle mode for the remainder of regular innings, and stayed locked 1-1 until the top of the 9th. That's when Antelope Valley ignited, recording 5 hits and scoring 6 runs, all but cementing the win for the Marauders.

Alexis Acosta and Megan Jones both recorded doubles in the effort, with both players going 2 for 3 at the plate, and Giavanna Muenz and Becky Winder notched a base hit apiece.

The Owls currently stand in the #4 spot in the WSC East with a 6-5 conference record, with 3 conference games remaining. Citrus takes the field on Thursday when they hit the road to Victor Valley for a conference matchup.
