Owls Walk It Off

In its final home game of the season, Citrus College went out with style, grabbing a 3-2 walk-off victory over Southwestern College.

The Owls improve to 14-23 on the year, while the Jaguars drop to 5-28.

Tatiana Figueroa led the Owls with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Mia Godoy and Jaidyn Harris each followed with two hits.

Southwestern scored first with a run in the top of the first, but Citrus evened things up in the third as Patty Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch.

The Jaguars took back the lead in the top of the sixth and looked like they might hold on for the win after taking down the Owls in order in the bottom half of the inning.

In their last chance at the plate, however, the Owls put their rally caps on. With bases loaded and one out, Rodriguez found the gap on the left side to score the tying run before Godoy stepped up to the plate and knocked a base hit through the right side to send Jillian Walker in for the game-winning run, 3-2.

Harris picked up her 10th win of the year in the circle, striking out five batters in seven innings of action.

Citrus has one last contest scheduled, heading to LA Mission on Tuesday to close out the season at 2:30 p.m.
