Owls Split Doubleheader with Raiders

Citrus College Softball hosted Moorpark College today for a doubleheader, each team getting a win. The Owls took game one 6-0, The Raiders got the 5-2 win in game two. 

Citrus College goes to 3-11 on the season, while Moorpark College moves to 7-5 overall on the year. 

The Owls got their first win of the month in game one today, earning the 6-0 win behind a well-rounded performance. The Owls capitalized on Raiders errors in the bottom of the first and third innings, scoring one run in the first and adding two in the third to go up 3-0. 

Caitlin Kelly drove in Kaliah Lopez on a fielder's choice RBI in the bottom of the sixth inning before Bailey Aguilar crushed a double to score Kelley and Aleena Ramos, giving the Owls a 6-0 lead. Caitlin Kelley pitched a one-two-three bottom of the seventh inning as the Owls earned the 6-0 win. 

In game two Moorpark College scored one run in the top of the third inning and Citrus answered with a two-run single off the bat of Alivia Martinez in the bottom of the third to score Harmony Torres and Sofia Femath, making the score 2-1. The Raiders added four runs combined in the final three innings to split the doubleheader with the Owls. 

On the day Alivia Martinez led the Owls going a combined 2-for-8 with two runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases. Sofia Femath went a combined 2-for-7 with two runs scored. Bailey Aguilar went 1-for-1 with two RBIs in game one. Rylee Praytor went a combined 3-for-6 on the day, while Caitlin Kelley pitched 11 total innings, striking out seven batters and only allowing three runs. 

Citrus College will host Chaffey College next Tuesday, March 4th at 2:30 p.m.
