Owls Defense Keys 2nd Win Over Cypress

Ventura, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Basketball team overcame a six point deficit at the break, and held their opponent Cypress College to just 19 second half points. That all resulted in their second win over the Chargers, ranked #14 in the State and #9 in SoCal, this year 61-57.

After giving up 38 first half points, and finding themselves down 38-32 at the break. The Owls rallied in the second half. Citrus outscored Cypress 29-19, coming away with the four point victory. Citrus also was huge on the glass, bringing down 25 offensive boards in the contest.

Sophomore Ella Rodriguez would lead the way for the Owls with a season and game high 22 points and a team high 11 boards. Seven of her 11 rebounds would come on the offensive glass. Freshman Olivia Montgomery added 17 and 9, while Sophomore Nicole Zugasti was the third Owl in double figures with 12 points.

With the win, Citrus improves to 8-3 on the year. The Owls will be back out in Ventura, on Friday when they wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule against Antelope Valley at 5:00 PM.
