Gutierrez and Mejia Off to NAIA Programs

Glendora, CA - Citrus College sophomores Natalie Gutierrez and Elsie Mejia became the fourth and fifth Citrus College Women’s Basketball players to sign scholarship offers recently. Both student-athletes are heady to four-year colleges, with Gutierrez inking with Bacone College (OK) and Mejia signing with La Sierra University (Riverside, CA). Both student-athletes were transfers to Citrus after their freshman campaigns, and both helped play a key role in Citrus earning their first post-season berth since 2009.
Adlao, Chamois, and Zalin Sign

Glendora, CA - Freshman Joy Adlao and sophomores Janae Chamois and Allison Zalin became the first members of the 2015-2016 Citrus College Women’s Basketball team to sign scholarship offers last week. Adlao and Chamois have accepted scholarships from California State University, East Bay, while Zalin has signed with Texas A&M International University. All are NCAA Division II institutions.
Barber Matthews Named Head Women's Basketball Coach

Glendora, CA - Linnae Barber, who spent the 2015-2016 season as an assistant with the program, was named the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach of the Citrus College Women’s Basketball team. Barber takes over a program, who she helped guide to it’s first post-season appearance in seven years.

San Jacinto, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Basketball team had a tough task at hand when they travelled to SoCal #2 Mt. San Jacinto College on Saturday evening to take on the Eagles in the 2nd round of the 2016 CCCAA SoCal Playoffs. The Owls knew it would take a larger than life effort to take on a squad who had lost just one game all year long. Citrus gave it their best effort, but in the end Mt. San Jacinto overwhelmed Citrus who fought until the very end.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Three games into the 2015-2016 season, the Citrus College Women’s Basketball team took on Chaffey College in the 3rd Place Game of the 2016 San Jacinto Lion’s Club Lady Eagle Tip-Off Tournament. The Owls were stymied by the Panthers who won 76-65. Wednesday night’s game in the opening round of the 2016 California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Playoffs had a different result, as things differed like night and day in Citrus’ 71-63 victory over the host Panthers.

Women's Basketball Qualifies for Playoffs for First Time in Seven Years

Glendora, CA - After finishing their 2015-2016 campaign with a 17-10 overall record, the Citrus College Women's Basketball team have qualified for the 2016 CCCAA SoCal Playoffs for the first time in seven years. The Owls' last appearance in the post-season came back in the 2009 playoffs. The Owls come into the post-season as the #18 overall seed and will travel to #15 Cahffey College on Wednesday for a 7PM contest.
Making Their Case

Culver City, CA - Headed into their 2015-2016 regular season finale on Saturday afternoon the Citrus College Women’s Basketball team couldn’t do anything about their post-season fate, and make their case when they faced a tough West Los Angeles College squad. The Owls did just that, and will now await their fate, after a 89-71 victory over the host Wildcats.

Glendale, CA - After back to back games in which the Citrus College Women’s Basketball team struggled to find any offensive rhythm, the Owls bounced back in a big way on Wednesday night when they travelled to Glendale College. The Owls hit the century mark for the first time this season, as they shot 50.7% from the floor and had six players finish with double digit scoring nights, in a 103-63 victory over the host Vaqueros.
Too Little Too Late

Glendora, CA - It took until the third quarter for the Citrus College Women’s Basketball team to find a rhythm in their crucial Western State Conference South Division contest with Los Angeles Valley College on Saturday night. By then though it was too little too late, as the Owls suffered their worst offensive showing of the season in a 48-52 loss to the visiting Monarchs.

Santa Clarita, CA - Despite the recent heat wave across Southern California, the Citrus College Women’s Basketball program finally experienced a cold stretch from downtown. The Owls hit just three total threes, shooting 25% from downtown, for their second lowest output from that range this season in a 61-72 loss to SoCal #6 College of the Canyons on Wednesday night.
Something They Needed

Glendora, CA - It had been over two weeks since the Citrus College Women’s Basketball team, ranked #13 in Southern California, had looked around and found themselves in a close game. The Owls had that late Saturday afternoon when they hosted Santa Monica College in WSC South action. Citrus would trail as late as 7:14 to go in the fourth quarter, before finally pulling away from the Corsairs at the end, in what might end being a game that they needed as they hist the finally stretch of regular season action.

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Basketball team, who moved up to #13 in the California Community College Women’s Basketball Coaches Association SoCal Poll this week, kept up appearances as one of the top teams in Southern California on Wednesday night by handing a solid Antelope Valley College team their second worst loss of the year in a 74-54 victory over the Marauders.

Bakersfield, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Basketball team continued their recent trend of getting out quick and putting things in cruise control. The Owls were the runaways on Saturday night at Bakersfield College, opening up a 26 points lead in the first quarter on their way to a 94-61 victory.

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Basketball team had another big test on Wednesday evening when they played host to West Los Angeles College, home to the State’s leading scorer Zhane Carter. The Owls were able to keep her in check, holding her under her season average and keeping her to just 32% from the floor, all the while getting deep contributions from their bench who outscored the Wildcats 31-11 in a 88-71 victory.

Glendora, CA – After suffering a pair of close and tough back to back losses, the Citrus College Women’s Basketball team rallied on Saturday night with a runaway victory against visiting Glendale College. The Owls had their second highest offensive output of the night and had five players finish in double-digits in a 92-47 victory.
