Women's Basketball Opens Round 2 of Conference Play In Style

Women's Basketball continued their winning ways Saturday as they edged out the visitors of LA Valley College. The Owls beat the Monarchs 58-48 in what was the 2nd game in 2019 for the Western State Conference East rivals. The Owls also won the first matchup.

Citrus moves one step closer to challenging for the WSC East title as they head into their biggest conference game in several years at Glendale on Wednesday. A win there would tie the two teams for the top spot in the conference. The last time the Owls won a WSC conference title was 2004-05.

Citrus played solid team basketball, playing in sync and executing impressive ball movement, spacing and set-play execution. The Owls shot 49.1% from the field, one of their best games of the season in that category. Citrus also outpaced the Monarchs in assists, dishing out 14 for their teammates in the contest.

Kyannie Brown, who is 3rd in the WSC in field goals, dropped 26 points in the win, snagging 6 rebounds, and blocking 2 shots to boot. Diana Navarro scored 20 points. Keely Wall, who is 6th in the state of California in total rebounds with 293, pulled down 16 boards and blocked a pair of shots.

Citrus improves to 16-8 in 2018-19 overall, with a 5-1 conference record. The Owls are scheduled to tipoff in Glendale this Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
