Women's Golf 2012 Season Kicks Off at South Coast Classic

San Buenaventura, CA (Women's Golf) -- The Citrus College Women's Golf team got their 2012 season underway on Monday morning as they took part in day two of the South Coast Classic at Olivas Links Golf Course in San Buenaventura, CA. The Owls finished fifth out of the five competing Western State Conference teams.

Leading the charge for Citrus was sophomore Melissa Salas. Salas got her season off to a promising start by shooting a 95. Salas was the only Owl to shoot a double digit score as freshman Kandace Delgado was the closest with a 106. Freshman Marisa Piceno came in the clubhouse with a 117 with freshman Kristen Masters right behind her with a 120.

As a team, the Owls shot a 438 as six stroke improvement over what last year's team shot at the same event on the same course.

Citrus will officially kick off their 2012 conference schedule in two weeks at the WSC opener hosted by Santa Barbara City College. Tee time is set for 10:30 AM at Santa Barbara Golf Course on Monday September 10th.
