Suwantanma Qualifies for SoCals

Solvang, CA -- Freshman golfer Paramee Suwantanma became the first Citrus College Women's Golfer to qualify for the Southern California Championships since current assistant coach Caitlin Smith did so in 2009. Suwantanma finished in second place overall at the 2013 Western State Conference Championships on Sunday and Monday.

Suwantanma opened up the two day event with a round of 78 at the River Course at the Alisal. Suwantanma followed that up with 80 on the same course. It gave her a two day total of 158, tying her with Bakersfield's Kendall Huser for second place in the tournament.

The rest of the Owls, fared just fine, with sophomore Deondra Alcantara posting a pair of 97's. Sophomore Kandace Delgado opened up with a 95, before regressing some on day two with a 100. Sophomore Kristen Masters provided the fourth score for the Owls on day one with a 95, while sophomore Marisa Piceno was the fourth scorer for Citrus on day two with a 108. As a team, the Owls posted rounds of 365 and 385 for a two day total of 750.

Suwantanma will represent the Owls next weekend at the Southern California Championships where they will again play the River Course at the Alisal in Solvanga, CA. Tee-times will be announced later this week.
