Owls Finish Seventh in Battle with State’s Best

Morro Bay, CA - The Citrus College Women's Golf team headed to the permanent location of the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships, Morro Bay Golf Course, for the annual North-South Invite. The Owls took on the state's best and came home with a respectable 7th place finish. 

 The Owls came out an fired an opening day 375. Sophomore Lexi Tunstad shot an 83, while freshmen Alexandra Martinez and Bruna Prestes each carded rounds of 95 and 96 respectively. Freshman Lauren Madueno was the last scoring round for Citrus with a 101, while freshmen Angela Adams and Grazia Watkins continued to show improvement with rounds of 108 for each. 

On the second day, Citrus managed to cut 10 strokes from their team total for a 365. Tunstad once again paced the group with an 80. Presets came in with a season low 92, while Martinez and Adams carded a 96 and 97. Watkins managed a 104 in a non-scoring effort. 

The Owls posted a two day total of 740, besting the likes of College of the Desert (749) and Irvine Valley College (764), while finishing just 13 strokes behind 6th place Mt. San Antonio College. 

Citrus won't have much time off as they take part in the WSC Antelope Valley match on Wednesday at Antelope Valley Country Club.
