Women's Soccer: Owls Steal Win In 1-0 Nail Biter

Women's Soccer hosted LA Valley College on Tuesday for a Southern California Regional match. The Owls edged out the Monarchs 1-0.

The game picked up in intensity almost immediately, with both teams darting out to aggressive starts. Both teams fired off shots within the first few minutes of play. In fact, both teams took a total of 8 shots in just the first 30 minutes of the first half.

But at the 45 minute mark, sophomore defender Zeanna Silva elevated on a corner kick by Monica Perez and hammered a beautiful header down to the turf that bounced up into the top of the cage for the go-ahead goal. The goal was the 2nd of the season for Silva.

Citrus saw strong play from a variety of players. Sydney Estrada fired off 4 shots in the game, keeping the LA Valley defense on their heels. Amethyst Trang, Isabela DeLeon and silva each took 2 shots on goal in the win.

Citrus moves up to .500 in 2019 with a 4-4 mark. The Owls play next on Friday at Antelope Valley. Start time is 4:00 PM.
