Women’s Soccer: Owls Historic Season Continues into Post-Season

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women's Soccer historic 2019 season is far from over, as the Owls learned on Tuesday afternoon that they are seeded #12 in the 2019 California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Playoffs. It's the sixth trip to the playoffs for Citrus College in the last eight seasons.

As the #12 seed, Citrus will head South and take on #5 San Diego Mesa College (19-1-1) on Friday evening at 6:30 PM. The Olympians were the champions in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference going 15-0-1 in conference play. Mesa has four straight matches, and are 9-0-1 in their last 10 contests. The Owls (15-6) of course are coming into post-season play after winning their first ever conference championship late last week.

Citrus, winners of eight of their last ten matches, and San Diego Mesa College shared one opponent in 2019, Southwestern College. The Owls defeated the Jaguars at home 3-0, getting goals from freshman Monica Perez and sophomore Zeanna Silva in the win. San Diego Mesa played Southwestern twice, defeating them 3-0 at home and then 4-0 in El Cajon.

San Diego Mesa is home to the State's top goal scorer in sophomore in Violet Renard. Renard has netted 36 goals this season, including multiple goals scored in 13 of the 21 games in which she appeared. For Citrus, sophomore midfielder Isabela DeLeon has paced the Owls offensive effort with 15 goals and 9 assists for a total of 39 points.
