The Citrus College Women's Soccer team hosted San Bernardino Valley College on Monday night and West LA College on Tuesday night to pick up back-to-back wins.
On Monday night Citrus College defeated SBVC by the score of 2-0 to improve to 8-0-1 on the season and 4-0 in conference while San Bernardino Valley College falls to 4-7-1 and 1-1-1 in conference.
Citrus College was led by Bridget Ward who scored a goal and assisted on another. The first goal of the game came at the 11th minute when Emily Cherry found Bridget Ward for a goal giving the Owls a 1-0 lead. The remainder of the game was a battle with both teams firing shots on goal including eight shots from Citrus in the second half. In the 76th minute Aubrianna Mejia launched a deep shot that soared over SBVC's goalies reach for her sixth goal of the season. Goalie Liliana Miramontes recorded a shutout with two saves. The Owls secured the 2-0 win and set their sights on Tuesday night's conference matchup with West LA College.
The Owls returned to Citrus Stadium Tuesday night as they hosted West LA College to earn another 2-0 win. In the 31st minute of the game Bridget Ward scored a header goal off a well-placed cross from Alexia Leon to give the Owls a 1-0 lead. Citrus continued to play aggressively as they scored again in the 36th minute when Emily Cherry assisted an Andrea Meza goal to increase the lead to 2-0. The Owls ended up taking eight shots in the second half but did not score again before the final whistle. Liliana Miramontes recorded a five save shutout as Citrus College improves to 9-0-1 on the season and 5-0 in conference games.
Undefeated Citrus College travel to Bakersfield College this Friday, October 18th for a conference game with a start time of 4 p.m.
